What is National Above The Bus Day?
National Above The Bus Day (October 5 every year) acknowledges all the people in our lives — coworkers, friends, family, and others — we wish to spotlight for great behavior. In stark contrast with those days when people are thrown under the bus, this day celebrates accomplishments, milestones, and other achievements that make people great — and that make the rest of us great, too.
How can you celebrate?
The sky is the limit — as long as the recipient wouldn’t mind a little recognition. If someone you know did a good thing, big or small, let the world know. Remember, this is about that person, not you. So put them as far “above the bus” as you can!
- Take to social media and shout them out
- Send a kind text message or email
- Leave a meaningful handwritten note or card
- Tell their supervisor or colleagues
- Buy them their favorite drink or snack
- Give them some unexpected time off
